About the project
Conrad Gargett was engaged to design an office building to satisfy the future accommodation requirement of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA).
The office building for GBRMPA is part of the proposed master planned Hive development located at 45 Flinders Street and 10 The Strand.
The Hive is a catalytic, multi-staged project connecting The Strand to the CBD, delivering Townsville a public realm that will create pride in the community and underpin economic growth through the delivery of exemplar private and public civic infrastructure.
Our vision for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority future accommodation (GBRMPA) is to be an integral part of the Hive, the Queens Hotel and Precinct Renewal project that will create a central hub of cultural, exhibitions, retail and commercial, as well as for scientific, research and education, tourism and residential uses.
The precinct is designed to interact with and enhance the appeal of Townsville’s CBD and The Strand, bridging the gap between the two formerly separate areas.
A tourism identity with a civic heart for the city of Townsville.
The proposed commercial office building has been designed specifically to be the office accommodation headquarters for the GBRMPA. The floor plate size, shape and orientation have been conceived to best satisfy the GBRMPA ambitions for a highly productive workplace.
