About the project
This academic building, completed in December 2014, is one in a series of projects developed for the University since our first iteration of the masterplan in 2001.
The building occupies a central commanding position within the radial planning framework and symbolises the next phase of development on campus. The three level building, with 5,500 m2 of usable area, houses post graduate learning on the upper two levels, and focuses on student engagement on the ground level.
The building is strongly related to the original heritage listed building and sets up a formal axis with the existing chapel, to create a significant community court at the heart of the campus.
While the design responded rigorously to time and cost constraints, it successfully provides a bonus to the campus in its place making approach.
