About the project
Conrad Gargett won through design competition the masterplan for Somerset College, a leading private school at Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast. In conjunction with Somerset’s 2014-2018 strategic plan, the brief outlined a number of new developments including a strong focus on new and redeveloped sporting facilities.
Conrad Gargett’s design response for the Somerset College Sporting Facilities identified a number of opportunities to leverage vistas to enhance the arrival experience for both academic and sporting facilities, including a new landscaped entry to a redeveloped sporting precinct. This approach develops and promotes the College’s sporting identity by virtue of these arrival experiences through new and revitalised landscape settings.
This includes a new hub at the heart of the campus, and a number of outdoor spaces that promote social learning, performance, display and interaction between students.
Conrad Gargett has completed stages 1 and 2 of the masterplan, including a new gymnasium, indoor basketball courts, running track, oval, grandstand, tennis and volleyball courts.
