About the project

As an extension to the QUT Kelvin Grove car park, an elevated walkway was designed to provide a strong legible connection from the sportsfield and car park to the campus.

This new 100m long steel bridge structure is accessed via a six level lift core and starts at over 16m above the ground level. A carefully detailed rest stop in the middle of the walkway amplifies the experience of the natural setting and acts as a beacon in the night facilitating a safe journey for pedestrians in this remote area of the campus.

This prominent site demanded the need for an expressive elevated walkway with quality landscape strategies to address environmental considerations, enable safe pedestrian movement and offer an aesthetically pleasing landscape environment.
Newly landscaped terrace areas and the integrated civil design provides relaxing outdoor study and learning spaces for students and staff whilst managing existing overland flow and drainage issues with the site.
