About the project
The Queensland Culture Centre is an iconic complex designed by Robin Gibson between 1977 and 1988. It comprises the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Performing Arts Complex and State Library of Queensland. In 2015 the complex was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. Following the listing, Arts Queensland commissioned Conrad Gargett to complete the Conservation Management Plan (CMP) and Heritage Manual for the Queensland Cultural Centre.
The CMP is structured to deliver; a framework for the conservation and best practice management of the cultural precinct's heritage values into the future and strategies to manage future infrastructure planning and overall asset management approach.
The CMP delivered a flexible approach to ensure consideration of the cultural heritage significance for a complex and operational campus and was accompanied by a Heritage Manual to assist the building users with day to day running of the precinct.
