The Ogden Street Transport Revitalisation project is designed to activate the heart of Townsville’s CBD and adjoining areas by improving ease of access to the key restaurant and shopping precincts. Informed by community consultation, the design consolidates the disparate bus stations surrounding the main street, Flinders Street, into a key interchange. The design incorporates a continuous roofscape of signage, shop awnings and bus shelters, with indigenous artwork displayed on the soffits to provide visual interest and a link the local community. Once complete, the bus hub will integrate with Townsville’s new stadium and link with the $28 million waterfront promenade.
