About the project
Conrad Gargett was commissioned as lead consultant to upgrade the existing facilities for the Ipswich Turf Club redevelopment, and provide new jockey and horse facilities for the expanding project.
The consultant team of architects, engineers, and planners found a solution to better address Ipswich Turf Club’s current and future requirements through an adaptive reuse and expansion on existing facilities. A new Jockeys building and function rooms were designed to meet the expanding and diversifying needs of the Club.
The project aims to improve services, connectivity, accessibility and functionality and increase safety and amenity for racing enthusiasts.
The amenities required for this development were achieved through the construction of new Jockey facilities consolidating in a centralized hub. The tie up stalls were relocated under the new masterplan to improve the functionality and spatial use of the facility.
The landscape works were critical part of instating a clear zoning and pedestrian link between the different typologies of space, creating clear wayfinding, and buffer zones on the site.
The development has been met with such enthusiasm in the local community that it has been renamed the Ipswich Entertainment & Event Centre.
We feel this is directly attributed to our focus on improved connectivity and accessibility for all users to increase the desirability of the venue as the local choice for Weddings, Corporate Events and Social Club Functions alike.
This new relationship between the club and the community has transformed the economic outlook of the club and has allowed it to plan in a more sustainable and future-focused way.
