About the project
Conrad Gargett developed the winning proposal for the urban redevelopment of the front entry to the Griffith University Gold Coast Campus with welcoming Aquatic Centre.
The project successfully incorporates an Olympic swimming pool, terrace lawn, terrace seating stairs and gym. The design responds to the existing context, providing an activated streetscape and generous public space.
The Aquatic Centre development aims to create a dynamic and vibrant community facility that caters for students, educators and visitors. A key driver of the development was the creation of sub-tropical, shady pedestrian-focused streets and spaces.
The project focus was on creating a campus hub that integrates and activates currently underutilised spaces and improves social spaces to support contemporary learning, performance, display and interaction opportunities.
