About the project
The Currimundi Beach House is a new interpretation of the beach house typology; functioning as a retreat from city life; but also, able to accommodate large groups of extended family and friends.
The design embraces the qualities of the benevolent local climate in two ways. Firstly, through design - breezes, views and daylight penetrate deep into the interior of the house without sacrificing a degree of privacy when required. Secondly, through materiality - the simple palette draws inspiration from the local flora.
This home has been enthusiastically welcomed by the owners as a catalyst for sharing with their extended families and friends. It’s welcoming and permeable facades addressing both the street and the beach have been a positive contribution to the local community.
