John designs buildings from the inside out, working in partnership with diverse teams to thoroughly understand people and their interactions with the space. He respectfully drives for innovative and sustainable outcomes, resulting in design that is not only functional and enduring, but also captures people’s imaginations.
John is a Director of Conrad Gargett with over 30 years’ experience designing great places for people to call home. Formerly a Design Director with Mirvac, and Peddle Thorp preceding this, John draws from a strong history of design and project leadership. He has engaged in work and study across Australia, Europe, USA, the UK, South East Asia, Japan and China. His substantial body of work includes the design, planning, documentation and management of complex projects spanning various sectors, including commercial, mixed-use, residential, healthcare and defence. John is a two-time graduate of Queensland University of Technology, with a Bachelor of Applied Science – Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture. As Chair of the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s Queensland Chapter, he is regularly sought-after for his insight into emerging trends in urban design and planning.
