Reconnecting with the Gold Coast

Conrad Gargett has established a new studio on the Gold Coast with our sights set on unearthing and celebrating the region’s rich urban heritage and character.

We have a number of local projects currently underway including the new Burleigh Heads De-Luxe development which has involved our architecture, interior architecture, graphic design and heritage teams working together to explore the history of the old De-Luxe Theatre and develop a sensitive design solution for a new luxury residential tower that seamlessly marries the old and new.

“We want to continue to celebrate the Gold Coast’s urban heritage and character, telling stories of its past, conjuring memories of place and creating a much deeper overlay to the city,” says Lawrence Toaldo, Managing Director of
Conrad Gargett.

Conrad Gargett has a long architectural history on the Gold Coast, having delivered projects such as The Southport School’s iconic Clocktower building in 1925 and later, the former Gold Coast Hospital Tower Block, when we established a local studio in 1977. This earlier studio operated from Surfers Paradise and Southport locations for 25 years.

“In the last 45 years, the region has undergone a massive transformation, as has our own practice. It is exciting to re-engage with the Gold Coast with a new team who are proud to be living, working and shaping this incredible part of Australia,” says Lawrence.

“With the maturing of the City of Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales from a transient holiday destination to a residential and retirement destination, Conrad Gargett sees an opportunity to support the growth in social infrastructure,” he adds.

Conrad Gargett is also currently working on large-scale retirement/aged care living and healthcare projects across the region including a 30,000sqm mixed-use vertical retirement and aged care facility in Southport, a new healthcare facility in Tugun, and major refurbishment works to the Lismore Base Hospital in Northern New South Wales.

The new Burleigh Heads office is our sixth studio, with our 180+ person practice also operating out of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Townsville and Ethiopia.
