Parramatta West Public School Official opening Smoking Ceremony

Last Thursday Conrad Gargett was delighted to celebrate the opening of Parramatta West Public School with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Aunty Julie, Corina, Dianne and Uncle Chris. This followed the school’s official opening last Tuesday by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Education Minster Sarah Mitchell.
Conrad Gargett is excited to have led this project with our multidisciplinary team across architecture, interiors, heritage and landscape to deliver a dynamic future focused learning environment, designed to maximise the flexibility, collaborative and focused learning opportunities for students and staff.
Connection to place with the integration of local indigenous narrative in consultation with the community is apparent through artwork, language and learning areas such as the indigenous ground mural ‘Corroboree’ which provides an opportunity for the students and teachers to come together and talk. The mural makes reference to the natural context, flora and fauna of Parramatta.
Conrad Gargett thank and share the success of this project in collaboration with School Infrastructure NSW, Parramatta West School community, and local Aboriginal community, our Conrad Gargett team and subconsultants, Blue Visions Management and Taylor Construction Group.
