Conrad Gargett welcomes ABM Architects

Conrad Gargett is pleased to announce that ABM Architects will be joining our practice, bringing valuable expertise in commercial, seniors living and justice design.
Conrad Gargett has grown significantly over the past 10 years, following a series of strategic mergers and expansion of our geographic footprint, with our 180+ person practice now operating out of studios in Brisbane, Townsville, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Ethiopia.
“Our continual evolution as a practice has enabled us to harness diverse thinking to creatively solve complex problems; skills that are becoming increasingly urgent in meeting the current global challenges of climate, social equity, security and health,” says Conrad Gargett Managing Director, Lawrence Toaldo.
“We look forward to welcoming the ABM team as part of our next phase of growth.”
ABM Architects was established by Barrie Ainsley in 1969. Previously, Barrie worked for a number of Brisbane practices including many years as a design architect at Conrad Gargett, having joined in 1961. Barrie was joined by fellow partners Gary Bell (in 1973) and Terry Murchison (in 1981) to form Ainsley Bell and Murchison Architects. Their practice was well regarded for their design expertise in the automotive, sport, commercial, hotel/residential and education sectors.
As the practice evolved, current Directors, Carl Brooks, Peter McCabe and David McCabe added expertise in Seniors Living and, in particular, Justice, where their partnership with Cox Rayner delivered the lauded Brisbane Magistrate’s Courts and the Ipswich Courthouse, Police Station and Watch House.
