Conrad Gargett Riddel’s vision for Petrie Terrace helps shape the future direction of Brisbane’s City Centre

Conrad Gargett Riddel has been acknowledged by Brisbane City Council as a contributing firm following the release of the Draft City Centre Master Plan 2013. This follows Conrad Gargett Riddel’s commission to envisage the transformation of Brisbane’s Petrie Terrace precinct as part of Brisbane City Council’s Ideas Fiesta. Our concept was exhibited to the public and used to inform the development of the new City Centre Master Plan.
Our design principles have been adopted by Council and pave the way for the future transformation of the Petrie Terrace area into a lively new mixed-use precinct. Our vision creates new pedestrian and cycle connections between Roma Street Parklands across the railway corridor to Hardgrave Park, Petrie residential development areas and Victoria Barracks. The proposal transforms the transport thoroughfare into a lively mixed-use precinct, unlocking the history and local heritage of the Victoria Barracks to revive currently underused heritage places and green spaces.
These strategies have now been integrated within the Draft City Centre Master Plan, with Brisbane City Council envisaging “Harnessing private development to deliver stand-out cultural destinations, restaurants and shops, this precinct will become an integrated lifestyle hub.” Read more about the New City Centre Master Plan here.
