Conrad Gargett awarded Queensland Landscape Architecture Award

Conrad Gargett has been awarded the AILA 2015 Queensland Landscape Architecture Award in the design category for their work on the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

The design, underpinned by extensive research, incorporates eleven rooftop gardens for recreation, rehabilitation and therapy, a green sloping roof of 23,000 plants and a community plaza featuring six transplanted fig trees.

Upon accepting the award, Conrad Gargett’s Head of Landscape Katharina Nieberler-Walker acknowledged,

“this Hospital provided a good opportunity to showcase the benefits of nature and the importance of contextual design in health and wellbeing”

She also went onto thank the Conrad Gargett landscape team and Project Architects Conrad Gargett Lyons for seven years hard work.

Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital will now progress to the National Landscape Architecture Awards to be held later this year.
