Celebrating indigenous art with Dale Harding

As part of National Reconciliation Week, Conrad Gargett has joined with a number of donors to commission a special piece of art for Rockhampton Museum of Art (RMA) which is currently under construction. This piece by artist Dale Harding will be prepared in time for the gallery’s completion in 2021.
Dale Harding is a descendant of the Bidjara, Ghungalu, and Garingbal peoples of Central and Western Queensland, and has gained recognition for works that examine the political and social histories of his family and community. Harding conveys these histories with sensitivity and poetic reverence and speak to and of his family and their endurance of loss, as well as of his family’s connection to country, which stretches back tens of thousands of years.
Lawrence Toaldo’s Managing Director said,
“Having worked on RMA with Clare Design and Brian Hooper Architect over the past three years, it is fantastic to be part of this commission which will add another layer of storey telling to our project”.
