Celebrating 2022
As 2022 draws to a close, it is an opportune time to reflect on the evolution of our practice.
As the practice grew this year we were pleased to welcome additional leadership through the appointment of a number of Principals and Senior Associates adding significant capacity and expertise. We also established a new studio on the Gold Coast, recognising the growing vibrancy of this region and welcomed the team from ABM Architects which merged with Conrad Gargett this year, adding significant expertise in the education, seniors living and justice sectors.
We were also pleased this year to win a number of design awards which included the North Queensland Building of the Year Award for the Proserpine Administration and Local Disaster Coordination Centre as well as a Good Design Award for Communication Excellence for our Queensland Rail – Station Design Manual.
This year we say goodbye to Principal, Mark Willett and welcome Principal, Harm Hollander in a new capacity, as a consultant. As senior practitioners, both have dedicated their life to promoting architecture through practice leadership. We value their years of commitment to Conrad Gargett and in particular their invaluable mentoring to our next generation of designers. We wish Mark a rewarding retirement and Harm, an energised renewed work-life balance.
Understanding that collaboration is critical in solving the complex challenges of our industry we have continued to strengthen our partnerships with clients, contractors, architectural colleagues, industry partners and university partners. This year, we were pleased to announce our partnership with indigenous creative agency, Blaklash. Recognising the critical need to explore how our design process can be enriched through engagement with Traditional Owners and an understanding of Country, this relationship will fundamentally change our design process. The early outcomes of this relationship are exciting and I’m looking forward to keeping you up to date as this relationship grows.
