On the eve of celebrating our 130 year anniversary of practice in 2020, it is an opportune time to reflect on longevity in our industry.
Each year we celebrate team members reaching an employment milestone of 10 years with Conrad Gargett. By the end of 2019, nearly 30% of our +150 strong team has reached this milestone! This accumulated knowledge and experience is significant and enables Conrad Gargett to bring a sophisticated understanding to every project.
One key project worth noting in 2019 was the recently completed F-35 Facilities in RAAF Tindal, Katherine with Hassell for Lend Lease and the Department of Defence. This $1.2 billion project completes a 10 year planning and delivery program. This is one of many examples of our team supporting large, complex projects with passion and commitment.
This year, bid adieu two Principals, Ian Mitchell and Michael Worrad. As senior practitioners, both have dedicated their life to promoting architecture through practice leadership as well as a significant involvement in teaching positions and leaderships positions at Universities and the AIA. We value their years of commitment to Conrad Gargett and in particular their invaluable mentoring to our next generation of designers. We wish them both a rewarding and relaxing retirement.
Collaboration in our industry is critical in solving the complex sets of challenges each project has. More than this though are the enduring relationships we have with our clients, contractors, architectural colleagues, industry partners, university partners and creative arts organisations. These relationships have continued to strengthen in 2019 and have enabled us to deliver an exciting range of projects and importantly, we’ve had fun along the way.
On behalf of Conrad Gargett’s Board of Directors and our talented, dedicated and wide-reaching team in Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Sydney, Townsville, Newcastle and Addis Ababa (yes, Ethiopia!), we wish you a safe and joyous Christmas and look forward to collaborating with you in 2020!
