2017 Season’s Greetings

The festive season provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the year, our achievements and the people and organisations we have collaborated with.

Our sincere thanks to our clients both near and far, both new and established across multiple industry sectors, who provide us with the privilege of designing and delivering their projects; our committed architectural collaborators, project managers, consultants and contractors who we work with daily to deliver our clients’ visions; and finally our dedicated team of professionals led by our eighteen Directors and Principals.

Whilst our 127 year history has meant that we have designed projects across all property sectors, this year we have experienced growth in healthcare, education, retail and civic sectors, as well as heritage, conservation and adaptive reuse.

Key highlights of our year included:

• The awards season started early 2017 and again we achieved success on the national stage, reflecting our team’s commitment to design excellence and innovation regardless of project scale.
• Mid-year, we were fortunate to add significant new design talent to our practice through the appointment of new Directors, Laura Cockburn (who leads our Sydney studio) and Tony Jemmott (who joined our Brisbane studio with his team). These appointments together with a number of leadership promotions of senior designers recognised in part the larger practice we have become, together with the significant experience and leadership of our team.
• In October, we released our retrospective, Conrad Gargett: 1890-2015 at the Museum of Brisbane. We celebrated this event with former Brisbane Lord Mayor, Sallyanne Atkinson AO, National AIA President, Richard Kirk and industry colleagues. At the same time we announced Bruce Wolfe’s transition to Company Chair and reflected on a successful 19 years as the practice’s Managing Director evidenced by the significant growth in both scale and number of projects in the book’s last two chapters.
• With pleasure, today, we launch our refreshed Conrad Gargett brand reinforcing our legacy, as well as future vision for the practice.
