Warroo Shire Hall
The conservation and restoration of Warroo Shire Hall reflects the value that the local community places on the unique qualities of this building. It is a delight to see the original architect’s (Harry J Marks & Sons) creative talent realised with such an unusual and wonderful piece of architecture in such a remote and small community. The hall has been an icon, landmark and inspiration to the township of Surat since its completion in c1930 by builders K O’Brien and C Turnbull. Thanks to constant use by the community the building survives in relatively original form today.
