UQ Sustainable Futures Building | University of Queensland
Conrad Gargett | OMA AMO design for the Sustainable Futures Building at the University of Queensland organised the functional program around a void; creating the new Great Hall. As a significant space of civic proportions, the Great Hall unlocks the potential for a new scale of engagement and collaboration. This was a highly specific site and contextual response to a brief that prescribed a building that supports flexibility, collaboration, interaction and has a unique identity. The negative space of the Forgan Smith Building is literally extracted from the heart of Sustainable Futures to create the volume of the Great Hall. Research and support program is tightly wrapped around the Great Hall.
