Princess Alexandra Hospital Transit Hub
Princess Alexandra Hospital Transit Hub provides a smooth and efficient patient admission and departure for the PAH campus.
The new facility offers great comfort to the patients and staff. It alleviates any waiting/block in the emergency to the hospital ward. The hub is designed with refreshment areas, breakout areas, and equipped with wireless access and other entertainments for the patient. The soft colour and texture in the interiors are intended to create a relaxed and light atmosphere while the patient and visitor waits comfortably for their transport to arrive.
Taking advantage of the outdoor space, the design team created an intimate landscape and outdoor seating area screened from the traffic. The layout creates a safe and private area for transport providers and ambulance to pick up and drop off patients. At the same time, the transit hub relieves the traffic congestion in the front entry of Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The new space includes the nursing resource units and patient flow units. The nursing resource unit provides staffing and clinical support after hours. The new work environment is bright, open and spacious, supporting the growth within the nursing resource unit.
