Moorebank Units Relocation, Holsworthy Barracks, Sydney
The Moorebank Units Relocation project comprises the relocation of the School of Military Engineering to Holsworthy Barracks, as well as the establishment of a series of supporting precincts including an Entry Precinct (Chapel, Museum, DCS and DSO), a Combined Mess, Physical Fitness Complex (including a cricket/AFL oval, rugby and soccer fields) and the Holsworthy Barracks Training Precinct.
External areas have been treated to provide amenity, safety and functionality for defence personnel to work, live and train and include combinations of shared pathways, courtyards, external break-out areas and recreation facilities. A combined pedestrian/cycle network links major facilities and Holsworthy train station to encourage health and well-being as well as reduced reliance on vehicular transport.
Over 3,500 advanced trees have been planted and large scale rehabilitation works have been put in place to protect fragile eco-systems in the area. Extensive remediation works will ensure that the high natural, cultural and ecological values are protected and enhanced.
