The Maleny House project called for the transformation of a dark and dysfunctional 1970s house with a 1980s extension. The site offers stunning views east to the Glass House Mountains and north to Maleny however the existing house did not maximise the available views and ignored the northern aspect. It was also disconnected from the established rambling garden which is a major feature of the site. The project took the somewhat rundown and redundant 1970s building and transformed it into a new home for modern rural living. The Maleny House highlights how good design can be achieved on a modest budget.
