The proposed hotel development occupies a prominent site on the major arterial road approach along O’Riordan Street from the city CBD to the Sydney airport precinct. The development complements the scale and height of the 12 storey Stamford Airport Central building opposite, which together will perform an important urban design role, to signify the 2 point buildings at the gateway to the airport.
The hotel will accommodate 238 luxury suites in a 9 storey high tower above a 4 storey podium, with 2 levels of underground parking for 95 cars. A through road along the rear boundary of the site, provides vehicular access off Robey Street to the central courtyard and a porte-cochere entrance to the hotel lobby and oneway access off Baxter Street to the loading docks. The reception area, lounge, bar, restaurant, seminar meeting rooms and hotel back of house facilities are at ground level. The rooftop of the podium has a garden terrace, pool, deck and gym for the use of hotel guests.
The principal curved facade addresses the street corner and subtly reflects the building form of its neighbour opposite. The red/green contrasting colour sun and privacy control louvres provide a contemporary, environmentally considered and dynamic facade design to enhance the streetscape and urban presence of the building.
