Burberry Sydney Flagship Store
The new Burberry flagship store and Australian Pacific region head office occupies 3 floors of the 343 George Street, Sydney building – Basement storage in the former bank vault areas, 820m2 of Ground Floor retail space, and a showroom, offices and boardroom at Level 5.
The heritage listed building was constructed in 1925 for the former CBC Bank, with its Ground Floor banking chamber of major heritage significance. This distinctive space has fine quality, now rare Australian marble wall facings, 7m high marble columns, remnants of the original marble counters, seats and bronze framed teller screens, together with WWI and II honour boards. The Burberry store “brand”, British themes and materials, colours and high end fitout complement the distinctive heritage interiors. The previously demolished counters have been reconstructed using the original stored materials and new contemporary design teller screens have been reinstated to re-interpret the design of the original. In contrast to the heritage features, two giant flat screen LED video walls and the latest in-store touch screen technology have been incorporated in the retail space.
